CompuSOFT Engineering Consulting recently completed another successful engagement. Titled “SURGE ANALYSIS For – 8-inch DEG (Di-Ethylene Glycol) and 3-inch TEG (Tri-Ethylene Glycol) for Steady State and Transient Hydraulic Analysis”, this recent project with a prominent client in the region involved analyzing their existing System to arrive at suitable design pressure and temperature. Specifically, steady state hydraulic calculations were performed for the entire section of line to validate the existing transfer pumps and verify the Pump Performance Curve using ASPEN HYSYS software. Also, with CAESAR II software, we performed a critical analysis on their pipelines connected to the rotating equipment e.g. turbine, pumps etc. in order to carry out equivalent static, seismic and wind analysis.
Leveraging scenarios with 5 distinct cases, we concluded the Dynamic Surge Analysis wherein dynamics modeling for surge was run for all the cases selected using the same input data e.g. pipe length, inlet-outlet pressure, temperature, flow-rate, etc. Our recommendations resulted in resolving environmental concerns, avoiding loss of product, initiating key safety factors associated with a stable system, and preventing continued financial loss.
